The SADC economy.

The SADC is the Southern African Development Community, it consists of 16 southern African countries. These being:  Angola,  Botswana,  Comoros,  Democratic Republic of Congo,  Eswatini,  Lesotho,  Madagascar,  Malawi,  Mauritius,  Mozambique,  Namibia,  Seychelles,  South Africa,  Tanzania,  Zambia &  Zimbabwe. These are some resources SADC has & the strange trade choices some SADC leaders make:  • Angola has oil, but Zambia & Namibia next door buy oil from Saudi Arabia & Kuwait.  • Namibia has beef, but Angola next door buys its beef from Brazil.  • Zimbabwe has coal at Hwange, but Mozambique buys coal from China.  • Zambia buys 360 million litres Saudi Arabian fuel. We can buy from Angola.  • Angola spends US$ 500 million on Brazilian beef. They could buy from Namibia.  • Mozambique spends US$ 312 million on coal. They could buy from Zimbabwe.  • Malawi b...

The strange idea of southern KZN being an independent kingdom...

You know, since 2017, I've been exposed to quiet a few independence movements... but southern KZN Independence makes the least sense. Apparently, two kings have proposed this; the Hlubi king (King Langalibalele Mthimkhulu III) & Nhlangwane king (King Melizwe Dlamini). Both kings sought to claim the territory between Thukela River in KwaZulu-Natal & Umzimvubu River in the Eastern Cape. This is the same territory that the Voortrekkers asked from King Dingane & known as the southern most extent of the Zulu Empire since 1828. Their theory goes; Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi falsely suggested the name KwaZulu-Natal for the province as, they claim, the entire region was not ruled by the Zulu king. They say all this while speaking Zulu & being blood relatives of the Zulu Royal Family. The Nhlangwini king claimed  the region should be named Natal while the Hlubi king claims the region should be called Embo (after the ancient culture that existed before Nguni & Zulu ru...

De-globalisation.

A USA citizen illegally enters forbidden North Sentinel Island. I think when people complain about colonisation, it's usually the loss of the indigenous way of life & not modernisation or industrialisation. Indigenous people can still live with their ancient customs & be modernised. As much as the Eurasian way of life was starkly different from everywhere else until the 1400s, human existence still requires the same necessities. The Eurasian way of life just managed to create a way of living that was more comfortable than the more natural way of life that existed on other continents. The Eurasian way of life originates from the very same systems that more primitive peoples lived under, so much so that it was quite easy to translate European ideologies to African societies & vice versa on some occassions.  De-globalisation   I understand how indigenous people worldwide can feel that they have lost control of their lands & it's a very reasonable sentiment. It wou...

Without democracy.

Africa once existed without election processes, this was during the time of monarchies. Instead of electing a head of state, there was a royal family which would rule the land. Now, I can understand how being ruled by a king today can sound strange to some but it has it's benefits & disadvantages as does democracy. People who dislike democracy are often accused of being against majority interests i. e. dictators. Yes, you can claim " The majority is stupid. " But under democracy, uncorrupted democracy , the majority gets the leaders they deserve & democracy can coexist with monarchy as with many lands worldwide. The king can select his prime minister & ministers, the people can elect their parliamentary representatives.  If you get rid of democracy, people will still need to have their voices heard somehow & the diversity of ways people choose to express themselves without elections can be chaotic. You would rather meet with the people & their represe...

A viable single African currency concept.

The original reason why I believe a single African currency would not work. Below is how we could attempt to make it work.  The many currencies of Africa. To prevent destabilization of the continent's economy, there could be two currencies: The Lami  for countries lying mostly north of the equator & the Ng'ombe  for countries mostly south of the equator. Both currencies would be independent with the Lami having it's bank & headquarters in Addis Ababa while the Ng'ombe could have it's bank & headquarters in Nairobi.  N.B.: Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, DRC & Kenya would use the Ng'ombe currency while Uganda & Somalia would use the Lami currency.  North of equator = Lami  South of equator = Ng'ombe   More stable countries with higher GDP per capita could be first to use the new currencies i.e. Seychelles, Mauritius, Gabon, Botswana, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Algeria, Na...

He taught me how rich people think...

I've been studying Vusi Thembekwayo for a while, I noticed that he grew up as a Model C kid but the difference is he took his hustle overseas & excelled. Now, there already is a running joke that Model C kids are arrogant & forward... when you take that & give it extra privilege, you likely could have a dangerously big-headed individual. Luckily, for us, our Thembekwayo hasn't become an egomaniac yet. But, watching his interview a few weeks or months back on TV taught me how rich people think.  Rich people have this "rich" laugh , excuse the pun. All of them. That haughty "You mean nothing" laugh.  Now, as a common individual, you start thinking "Which reality do these people live in?" And that's when it clicked for me. These people don't live in our reality. They can have anything they want, whenever they want. Nando's & Spur is not a treat for these people. They could have Nando's & Spur every single day, three...
