You can now buy with Bitcoin & Tether (a cryptocurrency pegged to the US dollar) in South African shops. This means that you can keep your money in virtual dollar vaults & still use it in everyday life. I can imagine what this kind of technology could've done for countries like Turkey & Argentina whose currency has devalued considerably against the US dollar. And while the South African Rand continues to stumble against the US dollar, some stability could've been attained with the use of USDC & Tether provided that this payment system holds or isn't over-regulated to the point of becoming obsolete. South Africans no longer have to struggle with PayPal for international payments & can send or recieve money from anywhere worldwide within minutes.
